How it all started:

I came up with the idea of Heatwave when I moved back to Cyprus after five years of being away, I lived in London, Dubai and even Athens for a bit. I’d been surrounded by this insane energy — boutique gyms, events, people constantly pushing limits — and I remember thinking, if I’m going back home, I’m taking that energy with me. I wanted to build something that didn’t exist yet.

At the same time, I was still soul-searching. I was applying for short courses in the U.S., chasing this dream I’d always had of being in America. And then, in true “life has a sense of humour” fashion, I got accepted into UCLA the exact same week that the Limassol Municipality approved my idea to host Heatwave on the Molos deck — the spot I’d been picturing all along. Everyone told me I had to choose. Heatwave or UCLA. I did nothing of the sort. I packed my bags, flew to California, and started planning the first-ever fitness festival in Cyprus from across the world. The rest is pretty much history.
